Description
Just a hundred yards or so north of historic Empire Ranch is Cienega Gulch. Janet took this pic of me standing next to this grand old tree. This stand of old growth cottonwoods can be seen from the living room bay window of the Ranch House. The sound of a breeze through these trees is wonderful. Could be dangerous underneath these on a windy day as these trees are self pruning. That is, a giant branch could break off and one would not want to be around when it happens. I love grand old trees!

Just a week ago last Sunday, My daughter and son in law joined Janet and I for a visit here. It was a rainy day and very windy. The wind was ROARING through these giant trees. I took pictures for this painting and now here is is 6 days later on FAA. Thank you so much, Elizabeth

Wow Jerry I love trees and these are magnificent!! Great shot of you there to give them scale!!! L/F
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Marvin, Thank you! If you look closely, there is a huge broken branch dangling about thirty feet above the ground on the first tree to the right. Windy days could be a bit dangerous here!

Like that of the grand old opera, the wind blowing through the leaves of these trees must be grand. Look at how small you are next to them....wow! Janet captured this well! Fave
