Description
I really enjoy a good red wine with dinner. The whole process of the wine making art is fascinating to me. Winemakers transform grapes grown in the terra cotta soil, into fantastic award winning wines. Arizona’s Sonoita Vineyards is one of our favorite wineries. They feature reasonably priced daily wine tastings, an intimate gift shop, in a beautiful setting. Being there in the summer of 2013, we enjoyed the wine, weather, and clouds so much that it inspired this painting. I thank Bill Letarte for introducing me to the Arizona wine country over 22 years ago! Historic Empire Ranch is about a 20 minute drive from here. It was founded by Walter and Margaret Vail, grew to 100,000 acres with over 40,000 head of cattle. Arizona wine and cattle country at its best!

Georgia, Thank you. It is a beautiful winery way out in the wide open spaces. We love to do wine tastings there. The grass is green like this in August after our summer rains nourish the high grasslands!

Jerry, I wanted to revisit this work and comment how much you have painted the essence of the Arizona Wine Country here in this gorgeous painting. The green hills with the large winery/house that is so characteristic of this region and against the Santa Ritas - Just perfect. Love the sky and the sun rays. I love it when we make it over to this area of AZ and sample a few of their delicious wines.... We have watched this area grow with many more wineries over the last several years. A joy to revisit this work.... and yes I'm still thinking about getting to your gallery....
