Description
While learning about the history of Vail. Arizona, I discovered that it was named after the Vail family, Walter and Margaret, who founded nearby Empire Ranch. It has inspired me to do a series of paintings of the historic cattle ranch. This scene is later in it's history, perhaps after the Vail family sold their home to the Boise family in 1928 who owned the ranch until 1969. The scene's focal point is the half octagon bay window that Walter installed as a wedding present for his childhood sweetheart, Margaret. I am sure all who lived in the house appreciated the view of the giant cottonwood trees that line Empire Gulch and the Rincon Mountains. I thought a winter scene , just opposite of the summer scene HER SPACE HER DREAMS, would be another way to feature this home that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975.

Tejsweena Krishan
When it's the matter of soulful heart that would make infinite of enlightened paths to shine like that one fine in all to be fair enough with self to not be someone just believes seeing dreams but have someone like you believes creating it with best senses in optics to let soulfulness choose color to colors of choice from it's spectrum for being own kind of original in epic forming best for all selflessly! Love this so much dear Jerry! :)
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Thank you so much, Tejsweena! I created the snow storm as the entire mood and sentiments of the painting was drawn from a classic Jim Reeves song named “The Blizzard”. The way it could have felt for the Vail Family that lived here at times...
Ursula Coccomo
Such a beautiful winter scene Jerry... Amazing artwork.
Jerry Bokowski replied:
This historic ranch is just 25 minutes from my home. Snow there during evening creates a wintry wonder. Thank you so much, Ursula!

Beautiful winter scene. Love the rays of light from the window. A touch of warmth on a cold winter's night!
Jerry Bokowski replied:
I painted this as it might have looked back in the 1890s, Gill. Thank you so much for sharing your impressions on this with me!
Teresa Trotter
This lighting effect reminds me of one of Thomas Kincaid's pieces. L/F
Jerry Bokowski replied:
This painting has been identified with Edward Hopper and Thomas Kinkade but I was just doing a Jerry Bokowski style, Teresa. Still, I love your observant and positive comments. Words like yours keep me painting. Thank you so much!
