Description
On a cold December day I looked out over the Grand Canyon from this area near Hermit's Rest and Pima Points along the South Rim. Patchy clouds made for bright sun and shade that were constantly changing as the shadows moved across the canyon. I snapped a pic as I thought someday that I would like to paint what I experienced. After posting the photo on FAA, a dear friend from Macedonia suggested that I do a painting. How could I not? So after 3 weeks of work, here it is, now one of my personal favorites. Now looking at this in my living room from 8 feet away it looks so much like that gorgeous day we were there. It tugs at my heart as I love this awesome place. Hopefully during April, I will see this place again at the Grandest Canyon on the planet!

What layers indeed! Fantastic details to capture each striation and remarkable use of shadow and light in this one while maintaining that certain glow all of your paintings seem to have. This one looks like it took while to paint as I can spot the finest detail even on the distant rim. Further affirmation that your Grand Canyon paintings are indeed the best I've ever seen!
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Aww thanks, Chance! This was my third serious Grand Canyon scene. Eva Maria Nova suggested and motivated me to do it. Thank you very much for your kind words on this!

Hi Jerry; I just had a chance to tour your portfolio of images, specifically of the Grand Canyon. I have to say - VERY impressive piece of work. Your paintings are fabulous showing lots of depth and many of the textures of the GC. Also love the interplay between the highlights and the shadows that your portray in your paintings, something that is always a pleasant surprise in the GC depending on the time of day and season. GREAT work. Thanks for introducing me to your work; and thanks for your support of mine as well.
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Absolutely my pleasure, Hany. For me, the Grand Canyon is the greatest challenge as a landscape artist. Thank you very much for your visit and kind words.

Thank you so much, Pavitha. This was my third painting of Grand Canyon and took three weeks to do. The canyon is so challenging to paint but rewarding at the same time. Always appreciate your words!
