Description
This painting won Honorable Mention at the 2019 Tubac Center of the Arts Member’s Open art show. It is always an honor to receive an award like this!
The word EON has several definitions indicating a vast, very long period of time. In geologic terms it means a major division of geologic time, subdivided into eras. So when looking thousands of feet down into the Grand Canyon and seeing the Colorado river relentlessly carving and sculpting this immense landscape, it overwhelms the senses.
This painting, captures the view from Mohave Point along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The Colorado looks small from way up here, and yet it averages 300 feet in width. If you cup your hands behind your ears you can hear the world class white water rapids miles away.
This was a daunting and challenging painting, but I was so moved to render it on canvas. Motivated by my awe and love for this grandest of Canyons, My goal was to try to capture the depth, distance, and dimension, that makes this place so awesome, so mesmerizing, and so incredible. I love this place!

Stupendous! The solitude and expansiveness of the landscape is riveting! If you get time, try and look up the himalayan landscapes of the Russian painter, Nicholas Roerich.
