Title
Golden Hour Grandeur
Artist
Jerry Bokowski
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
After doing several mid morning and mid afternoon paintings of the Grand Canyon, located in Arizona, I decided to do a golden hour just before sunset, artwork. Here the atmosphere filtered light illuminates the various formations so they look like they are glowing from with in. This looks incredible when dark shaded areas in blue and purple hues make for strong contrast against the sun lit crags. This view is from near Yavapai Point looking north at the sunlit Isis Temple and to its lower right is the Cheops Pyramid. Geologist Clarence Dutton named many of the landmarks in Grand Canyon in 1882 based on numerous deities worshiped by Hindu, Buddhist, and Egyptian cultures. Most of the view point areas are named after Native American and early explorers. This is my second painting after returning from Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce just over four weeks ago.

Was just revisiting this 'grandscape' which incidentally was my introduction to your vast gallery less than couple of months ago! Belated congratulations on your win and the award! Your gallery is not only a beautiful vision of a great master but also a sort of pictorial history of these locales represented thoughtfully and with exemplary skill in the paintings themselves and the detailed story and inspiration behind them!

I am always happy to find out what draws people to a certain painting. I sold two paintings over the week end to a gentleman that said they “Spoke” to him. Thank you so much for your comments, Renu!

I am pleased and honoured to announce The July 2020 FAA Tony Award Winner JERRY BOKOWSKI! Jerry is a great artist in the Fine Art America Community! He is an extremely talented painter whose works are truly masterful and so finely executed. He mostly paints landscapes inspired by the beauty of the Great Southwest. I’ve always been amazed and fascinated by Jerry’s Grand Canyon and Zion National Park paintings, which are so majestic and impressive. All his paintings are exquisite and the way he renders lights and shadows is truly unique. He is also a talented photographer and very supportive with his fellow artists! Please visit Jerry’s FAA Gallery and show him some support and congratulations. I believe Jerry is very deserving of this Artistic Award and recognition! Thank you Tony and Abbie for accepting my nomination. Congratulations, Jerry!!!
Jerry Bokowski replied:

The Temple structure looks majestic, gently illuminating the shadowy blues and purples surrounding its radiance. Beyond compare. Another level of consciousness. The only other painter IMHO who's mountainscapes embody this level of depth and intensity is NH.
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Thank you so much, Renu. I am humbled and flattered to be compared to the work of other successful artists.

Sublime! the complementary colour palette with the orange-pink highlights offsetting the mellow blue-mauve shadows creates such a wonderfully balanced harmony!
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Thank you so much, Renu. The reference photo I used had full sunshine on the entire canyon. I wanted to showcase Isis Temple so I shrouded the rest of the canyon in heavy storm cloud shade. I have seen the canyon many times look like this over the decades.

Incredibly beautiful, like a timeless castle in the wilderness. l/f/tweet
