Description
I was traveling west on Twin Peaks Road, in Northwest Tucson, Arizona, around 3:00 in the afternoon and a remarkable summer storm was brewing. It began to pour down over the Tucson Mountains and was headed right at me. I stopped the truck, grabbed my camera and watched the storm get closer and closer...the wind picked up and blew cool moist air in my face. I could actually hear the curtain of rain as it approached. I wanted to capture the moment on canvas as well. My brother Steve says it is one of his favorite paintings (He loves our summer monsoon storms!).

Breathtakingly beautiful, dear Jerry! I love the selective coloring to your painting, too. Not something seen very often. I love your story behind the artwork, and I quote, "It began to pour down over the Tucson Mountains and was headed right at me. I stopped the truck, grabbed my camera and watched the storm get closer and closer...the wind picked up and blew cool moist air in my face. I could actually hear the curtain of rain as it approached. I wanted to capture the moment on canvas as well." Just like your brother, I love monsoon storms too. LF FB

Malanda Warner
Jerry, this is so interesting with a nice range of tonal values depicting the incoming storm and the use of selective colouring in the foreground really portrays depth and a strong impression of photographic realism that would be seen on a stormy day! LF
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Malanda, you always know how to make my day a little brighter. Thank you so much!

It really captures the moment. Beautiful picture, and difficult, with such a 'narrow' pallette. Great work!! L/V
