Description
August summer rains green up our Sonoran desert. Ocotillo cacti burst forth with bright green leaves. Here, during our morning walk, I just had to capture the lush beauty of these graceful cacti. The rugged desert can sure amaze after the rains!

Georgia, Thank you so much. The rains really do green up our desert so nicely!

I have been to Arizona several times and I have never seen such lush and green Ocotillo before. Great shot!
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Amy, thank you so much. Most of the time the desert can look quite dry and brown. Summer and winter rains can produce a very attractive desert as we see here.

Now, these are something I sure don't see here on Long Island. I wouldn't even know these were cactus till I read your description. Very nice capture! Fave
Jerry Bokowski replied:
They are beautiful, slender and graceful. They have an impressive array of thorns to protect themselves underneath their leaves. Thank you so much for commenting on this, Deborah!

Pretty capture Jerry, interesting plant!! LF
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Tina, Thank you so much. Most of the time they don't have leaves.....just thorns. The rains really bring out their beauty and their spring wildflowers are gorgeous!
