Description
A native plant in the Sonoran Desert, is the ocotillo. Here it is all leafed out and displaying their unique bell-shaped, vibrant red-orange blossoms, at the Saguaro National Park West-Tucson Mountain District. They are generally bare, looking like dead sticks.
Please check out my Spring in the Desert Gallery to see spring flowering plants (there are 350,000 flowering plants around the globe, studying 1 per day, would take over 900 years to accomplish that) and wild flowers in all of their glory.

When I first saw these plants, they were so strange to me! Now I see them all the time when we travel, and they are just a beautiful color to the desert! FL FB

Oh how our Arizona Upland region of the Sonoran Desert comes to life. Those ocotillos, once looking like dead sticks, leaf out, and produce these vibrant red-orange blossoms. I love this close-up dear Jerry. Truly a red-head of the desert. A great shot! LF and Facebook

Wonderful capture of cactus flowers. These are so fragile and don't last long. You must have been there at just the right moment.
