A rare spring snow has fallen on Four Peaks of the Mazatzal Mountains in Arizona. I was traveling from Payson Arizona to Phoenix last May of 2014 and the Desert was in full bloom, a sea of yellow, I thought that the only thing to trump what I was seeing was if a rare spring snow had fallen on the mountains and the rain in the desert had cleaned up the air and settled the desert dust making for a clear day and blue sky. This painting is an attempt to capture that amazing mid afternoon fantasy! By the way, there is a micro brewery in Tempe, Arizona named Four Peaks that produces some wonderful libations including a brew named Kiltlifter!

This is what inspires a passion within me to capture the mood, drama, and majesty of being there....from being at the foot of a majestic crag or on top of a summit overlooking a distant valley below. I paint real places that one can visit and see.
