Amazingly powerful image. On top of that, to learn that you built this yourself, Jerry, leaves me with no words for your artistry and creative mind. I went through the "Titanic" exhibit in Houston several years ago--given the name of a passenger, only to learn at the end of the tour whether that individual made it or not. Unforgettable, and now there's a full museum. What you've described is museum-quality work. l/f

Jerry Bokowski replied:

Thank you, Connie. 21 years ago I built this as a prototype and a website to sell these online. Fortunately I never sold one as they take about 300 hours of time to build and shipping them could result in severe damage due to reckless employees of the name brand companies. So I just enjoy it myself and with everyone that actually visits my studio. To have a person fly a 13 thousand mile round trip to see this, my art, and the incredible places like Sedona, Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce as well as Sabino Canyon, Mount Lemon, and Sonoita, was most likely a once in a lifetime event for me and Janet and the Ultimate complement to my efforts as an artist. Thank you very much for your visit and comments, Connie!

These paintings are so neat, Jerry. I can really appreciate them more since I just returned from a trip which included roaming the Queen Mary. I did it for nostalgic purposes, I hadn't been on it since the 7th grade. Reading your description made me think of the Titanic model and all the others on that ship. Thanks for sharing. L/F

Jerry Bokowski replied:

Natalie, So nice to hear from you. It has been a long time since I took my kids to see the Queen Mary but still have pics and good memories of it!

Artist's Description

I INVITE YOU TO VISIT MY TITANIC GALLERY FOR MORE PHOTOS OF THIS SHIP MODEL......This is a PHOTOGRAPH of a model of the Titanic that I built in 1998 after the movie came out. I called it, TITANIC-THE LAST SUNSET... There was about a five second long scene of the ship sailing off into the sunset that just blew my mind. So I decided to build a model of it so that I could enjoy a three dimensional view any time I wanted. I drilled 900 portholes out, lit all the floors, used fiber optics for the deck lights, fabricated an ocean and used clear urethane to make it look wet. The ship is placed in a cabinet that has a sunset background. complete with a four way remote control lighting system. # 1 controls the ship lights, # 2 controls the sunset lights, #3 controls a soft blue night lite with sunset turned off, # 4 controls additional day time lights. This thing looks incredible in the dark. I used the same style and technique for the background sky as I use today for my art! I bought custom p...

About Jerry Bokowski

Jerry Bokowski

I have been in awe of the deserts, mountains, and canyons of the great southwest for over 50 years. Atmospheric events like sunrise and sunsets, approaching storms and monsoon rains, fog and mist, snow, or moonlit nights, just add to the beauty of Arizona and Utah landscapes. This is what inspires a passion within me to capture the mood, drama, and majesty of being there....from being at the foot of a majestic crag or on top of a summit overlooking a distant valley below. I paint real places that one can visit and see. Whether it be Finger Rock of the Catalina Mountains,The Sentinel in Zion National Park, or Mather Point at the Grand Canyon, it is my goal and desire to have my paintings draw a viewer to them and that they become...
