This is a painting of my kids balcony that overlooks the Sea of Cortes at high tide, in Rocky Point, Mexico. The sandbar you see, divides a large estuary from the beach and sea. At full high tide the estuary fills with water and makes for this gorgeous scene. This is the view they have from their living room. I love visiting here, and their balcony is a wonderful place to have a cold beer or a glass of fine red wine! Absolutely beautiful sunsets from here! This was a commissioned painting for my beloved daughter and son! It now hangs in their Arizona cabin.
I have been in awe of the deserts, mountains, and canyons of the great southwest for over 50 years. Atmospheric events like sunrise and sunsets, approaching storms and monsoon rains, fog and mist, snow, or moonlit nights, just add to the beauty of Arizona and Utah landscapes. This is what inspires a passion within me to capture the mood, drama, and majesty of being there....from being at the foot of a majestic crag or on top of a summit overlooking a distant valley below.
