Description
October fall colors in Zion National Park are breathtaking. The SENTINEL is a famous landmark in Zion that towers almost 3,000 feet above the Virgin River at an elevation of 7,156 feet. As you travel along the Mount Carmel Zion Highway from the town of Springdale, the Sentinel is one of the first geologic features you will encounter to your left. It is aptly named as it seems to stand guard over the entrance to the rest of the canyon. Long before I ever visited Zion, I saw a picture of it and was so impressed that I made plans to visit Zion in August 1988. Since then I have been to Zion over 20 times and have hiked many of its famous trails. In person it is an awesome sight and thus motivated me to capture it on canvas.
As you look at it imagine the crisp cool fall air laden with canyon scent. Feel the breeze in your face and the sound of it through the trees. Hear the gentle rapids of the Virgin River and See this majestic crag in the late morning sun against the clouds of a storm front coming in....truly a feast for the senses! Can you tell that I LOVE this place?

I long to be in Zion as it’s been since October of 2018 since our last visit. Due to Covid 19 and being 24/7 caregivers for my 92 old mother with Dementia, we’ve been home bound for the past 4 years. Thank you so much for your comments. Hopefully, you can experience Zion someday. It will be an unforgettable experience!
