Description
In September of 2018, I did a series of Ten 10"x10" paintings for a fund-raiser at Tucson's Tohono Chul Park. Between that art show and now, five found new homes. I was surprised that the initial painting that I did of a rainbow after a desert monsoon rain did not sell as it was MY favorite.
Fast forward to June of 2019, my one and only daughter, invited me to her home to listen to several YouTube performances of cellist Tina Guo on her big screen 4K TV and sound system. My daughter has introduced me to all kinds of great music over the years. Soon after, Missy told me that she had contacted Tina Guo while she was staying at the Ritz-Carlton Resort at Dove Mountain in Tucson via Instagram. Within minutes, Tina responded with heart warming words. My daughter was so impressed as was I.
Sometimes, artists are inspired by the most unexpected events in life.
Since Tina mentioned how she loved our unique Sonoran Desert, I decided to rework my original painting by adding Tina and one of her amazing electric Cellos, along with rocks, flowers, and Saguaro Blossoms. I designed a lavender gown to contrast with the sunlit desert. This was a fun painting for me and a way to get back behind the easel after a long break from painting. Eventually, I hope to present this as a gift to Tina as a small token of me and my daughter's appreciation for her incredible music. I had purchased a CD named "INNER PASSION", that features a duet of Tina and pianist Peter Kater. I listened to it as I worked on this painting...so beautiful and relaxing.
This tiny painting just begged to be re-named "Sonoran Serenade"!

She got it last September while she was still living in California. She recently got married on 2/20/20 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Thank you so much for your visit and comments, Amber!

I am listening to her gorgeous music as I make comments! LOVE IT!! :D

She can do powerful, large, dynamic performances and equally adept at a peaceful, beautiful duet that soothes the soul. Thank you as always, Debbie!

Jerry, SO delighted to see your recent posting of work. I had to listen to Tina Guo before commenting...her music and your work together are a heady combination. I hope she realizes the honor you bestowed upon her by adding her into my personal favorite of your exhibition works. The rainbow blesses you each time you honor her ephemera. Magnificent. L/F
Jerry Bokowski replied:
This is now in Southern California, so hopefully I will hear from her someday. She will be traveling the world from September through December so it may be awhile. Still was a fun painting. I hope it brings her back nice memories of Tucson and Dove Mountain. Thank you very much, Laurel.

Her duets with Peter Kater, on youtube, were just gorgeous, Debbie. She is constantly traveling all over the world so hopefully while taking a brief break from touring, she will find this waiting for her in her PO Box. Thank you very much for your visit, comments, F/L

Thank you very much, Tsc. This has a very nostalgic, moody, feel to it. Hopefully, Tina will visit Tucson during Fall or Spring next time and see our desert at its best!

Jerry, this little scene is also MY favorite from your collection of the little 10 x 10s. The addition of Tina Guo and the foreground is just splendid. I'm sure she would love it very much!
