Description
***This was painted for the Tucson, Arizona, Tohono Chul Park annual 10 x 10 Fundraiser. "An Invitational Exhibition of small works by the artists who have made the exhibits at Tohono Chul shine throughout the last year." Original SOLD at this show.***
I decided to do a series of the Arizona Sonoran Desert Mountains and cactus flowers for the show this year. Here we see a Prickly Pear Cactus bloom as it nears sunset after a spring rain.
Our normally dry washes drain runoff from the rains. The storm has cooled the moist desert air nicely and the smell of wet Creosote is unique and refreshing!

In these uncertain times with a raging pandemic and global lockdowns, this incredibly beautiful work of art inspires hope with the bright yellow flower foregrounding a the vastness of the landscape enriched by the mellow and subdued rays of the sun like some post-apocalyptic paradise!
