This is my third painting to feature Dana Butte, at Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. This time it is from the scenic view at Mojave Point, located along Hermits Rest Drive. My prior artwork was from Hopi Point, along that same road.
This view is further west, and offers a different perspective, as we see it from the side, stretching off into the Canyon. Cloud shade and atmosphere play with the array of mid-afternoon colors Grand Canyon is famous for.
Anyone seeing the Canyon for the first time, should try to visit all the South Rim viewpoints. From the east entrance, along Desert View Drive, to the end of Hermits Rest Rd. Morning to mid-morning, and mid-afternoon until golden hour, are the best times of day, as the shadows and colors are at their best
Grand Canyon National Park is a place that should be on everyone's bucket list. The depth and vastness, size and scale, must be experienced to be believed!
