Description
This was painted for the Tucson, Arizona, Tohono Chul Park annual 10 x 10 Fundraiser. "An Invitational Exhibition of small works by the artists who have made the exhibits at Tohono Chul shine throughout the last year."
I decided to do a series of paintings that showcase the magnificent mountains and cactus flowers of Tucson, Arizona.
Here we see a Queen Butterfly enjoying a Creosote Flower or also known as Chaparral bloom. Rincon Peak towers in the distance and a rainbow decorates the sky.
I have always loved the fragrance of wet Creosote after a summer rain. I also enjoy making Creosote Tea. A sprig of its tiny leaves, let it steep a few minutes, and wow! I once shared a cup of it with a very special guest all the way from Macedonia!

This is so beautiful and the detail is absolutely exquisite. L/F It looks as if you could reach out your hand and have the butterfly land right on your finger tips. Featured in American Desert Southwest.

How unique this painting is! It looks as if the Flutterby swooped down onto the Creosote flower, leaving a trail of color behind it! That's wonderful that you have been invited again to the Tohono Chul Park annual fundraiser of 10 x 10's. I like your collection of 10 x 10's this year! L/F
