Description
This is my first painting after an incredible trip that included Sedona, Grand Canyon National Park Arizona, Zion National Park, and Bryce National Park Utah. We were able to share this trip with a dear friend all the way from Macedonia. Her enthusiasm for my art and love of these incredible geologic wonders of what is known as the Grand Circle and Grand Staircase, was just amazing and made the trip a perfect come true for Janet and myself. I always strive to include trees and rocks along the rim just as you would see them along the trail. This area is located between Mather and Yavapai points and features sunlight on some amazing rocks and the distant Cheops Pyramid and Isis Temple with shadows and approaching rain on the rest of the canyon. I hope to continue a series of paintings inspired by this trip. Inspiration is the best source of motivation and creative energy for an artist. I took a pic of this last April and used it for a reference. I added the approaching storm clouds, shade, and rain to make a focal point of Cheops Pyramid and Isis Temple in the sun light. Thank you as always Danielle for your kind and encouraging words!

Thank you very much, Elena. The Grand Canyon must be seen to be fully appreciated. Fall and Spring are great times to see it. It is undescribable, words, pictures, paintings cannot capture it. They can only enhance memories of it or make one want to see it!

Jerry, both versions of this wonderful painting are magnificent! What a difference lighting can make to colours, I try to work and photograph in natural light whenever possible, I'm fortunate to have a large bay window with 3 different exposures in my studio. LF
