Description
Thumb Butte is a distinctive landmark just west of Prescott, Arizona, and also a popular hiking destination. This area has an interesting mixture of vegetation with ponderosa pine, pinyon pine, scrub oak, manzanita, yucca, and cactus.
I painted this bird's eye view, looking north where you can see the distant red rock cliffs of Sedona then all the way to the snow capped San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, Arizona.
My art has been selected to appear in the prestigious 46th Annual Phippen Western Art Show on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, 2020. the show will be held at the Prescott Courthouse, just a few miles from this scene.

Jerry, The Large paintings are incredible, obviously but you really are able to showcase your talent in these smaller works. I understand the affordability issues for the gallery clients, and they really must be so honored to to own an original... even if small by your standards. You have done them a great kindness. I learned long ago that in a big outdoor art show, ya gotta have small affordable paintings along with your big expensive master works. The big ones get lots of compliments and the little cheap ones sell! A lot of fine art galleries today are requesting small, tiny paintings rather big expensive ones! Thank you again, Amy!

Jerry, what an amazing Piece of Art!!!! It reminds me so much of Hokusai's “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.” He also used layers of scenes within one piece. Even though this is an realistic art piece, Hokusai's were a bit unrealistic. Europe went crazy over the 36 views, and the impressionists favored them as well. VanGogh even painted some portraits with Hokusai's work in the background. I love how my eye moves around the piece as well!!! LOVE it!!! L/F Misha
