Description
This was painted for the Tohono Chul Park annual 10 x 10 Fundraiser. "An Invitational Exhibition of small works by the artists who have made the exhibits at Tohono Chul shine throughout the last year."
This year I decided to feature several of our Arizona Sonoran Desert Mountains, along with
our amazing cactus flower blooms. Here we see Picacho Peak State Park and its renowned Poppies. Every year people from all over the world visit this park during late February to early March to photograph or paint the countless flowers there. I did another small 8x10 painting of this place as it looked last March of 2019.
I decided on a misty sunset behind the famous peak that is about 60 miles from our home!

Simple, small paintings are a nice break from large, complex paintings of Grand Canyon. Thank you so much as always, dearest Janet Marie!

Jerry! I just love your beautiful gallery of small works. This one features the amazing wildflower blooms, the Mexican Gold Poppies, set against famous iconic peaks and mountains in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. Picacho Peak looms in the background, providing a beautiful backdrop to these lovely poppies. Promoting in "FOR THE LOVE OF FLOWERS" Art Group discussion thread. LF and Facebook

Paying a revisit to this little scene - great example of where sometimes less is more. I love the mood conveyed by the peachy colored sky, the mist, and subdued colors in the foreground. One of your best small paintings, Jerry!
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Thank you very much, Chance! One of my favorite 10x10s although it did not sell at TC, maybe it will in a future show.

Ooooo what a terrific scene!! Makes me want to jump in and wander through to see where it leads in every direction! The sky is so warm.. reminds me of those yummy cream-sicle pops we ate as kids.. a wonderful balance of thrilling adventure and sweet tranquility~
Jerry Bokowski replied:
This was inspired by a trip we took there last March, Danielle. Janet posted a lot of images of here on her FAA site. Thank you so much as always for your visits, comments, and support. I really appreciate it!
