Description
This is the second painting I have done of iconic landmark Camelback Mountain located just east of Phoenix, Arizona. The first was a sunset and now a sunrise on the other side of the mountain, the most familiar view of Camelback. I decided to paint it as it might have looked over 100 years ago before the city built all the way around it. From here it is easy to see a Camel lying down and thus its apt title and name. Here also one can see a rock formation called The Praying Monk just to the left of the Camels face. The setting is early September after the summer monsoon rains have turned the desert green. The mountains of Arizona are something that always amaze and inspire me, especially during special times of day like this!
