Title
Camelback Mountain Dusk
Artist
Jerry Bokowski
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
Camelback Mountain is a famous landmark just east of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to resembling a camel lying down, there is a rock feature on the head of the camel that has been named: The Praying Monk, that can be seen to the far right in the painting. My depiction here is what my imagination feels the mountain would look like 100 years ago before the city was built all the way around it. Last light of day after a summer monsoon storm can be glorious!

I'm sure I've commented here before, but this is one of my absolute favorites of yours Jerry! Such a harmonious scene between mountainous strength and beautiful, soft, complimenting colors and textures~ makes me want to throw a sleeping bag down & camp right there! JUST SPECTACULAR.

Jerry I just love your sunsets. I love them in your photography and in your paintings. Just beautiful! What a talent. The colors are gorgeous. You have such a lovely way of rendering the beauty of these famous Arizona landmarks, this one, displaying a lovely sunset. You have taken the words right out of my mouth, and I quote you, "Last light of day after a summer monsoon storm can be glorious!" LFC FB

Jerry, this is such a very beautiful painting. I love the glow on the horizon, the outline of the mountain, and the beautiful detail in the foreground as always. I agree with Malanda below said about having a jagged and soft quality at the same time! It sure is interesting to see how it would have looked 100 years ago. Although you are so skilled I am sure you could paint the 101 Freeway zipping around and all the homes and strip malls just as well, but the view 100 years is beautiful. Each work of yours I stumble onto amazes me.
Jerry Bokowski replied:
Hey, thanks big time, Chance! I always appreciate reading your observations and comments. Thank you so much!

Jerry, this could well be my favourite of your paintings (I only say that until I view another one because they really are all my favourites)! There are many special qualities to this one that are so very engaging! To mention only a few: It has a rugged and yet soft quality (jagged and flowing lines) vivid and muted colours and edges, energizing and yet tranquil. One remarkable work of art Jerry! LF
